Quick answers
Decking & 2 cm porcelain: the short answers
Technical facts · from manufacturer documents and standards
- 1. What is it?
- Porcelain pavers are 2 cm (20 mm) thick porcelain tiles for outdoor use; a tile qualifies as porcelain when its water absorption is 0.5% or less (ASTM C373) [1] . We carry Enmon North America 2 cm outdoor porcelain [2] .
- 2. Where can it be used?
- Enmon lists installation over gravel, concrete, grass and sand, and on adjustable pedestals [2] [3] . Specific approved uses (pool decks, balconies, rooftops, driveways): [To confirm: from Enmon technical data sheet]
- 3. What are the substrate and installation considerations?
-
- Pedestals can sit on any stable substrate; concrete must be dry and cured, and a concrete base is suggested over sand or gravel [4] .
- Tiles larger than 32 × 32 in. need a centre support. Pedestal spacing is 40, 50 or 60 cm for high, medium or low traffic; bases above 400 mm must be secured; slope correction is 0–5% [4] .
- Base depth and joint width for gravel, sand or grass installs: [To confirm: from Enmon installation guide]
- 4. How does it perform in wet coastal conditions?
-
- Water absorption 0.09% (ISO 10545-3), fully frost resistant (ISO 10545-12), slip rating R11 (DIN 51130) and breaking strength over 9,993 N for the Enmon Basic 60 × 120 cm paver [5] . Reviewer: figures from a retailer listing; confirm on the Enmon technical data sheet and add ASTM C373, C1026 and DCOF values
- Pedestal installs leave an open void below the pavers for drainage; slope correction up to 5% is available [4] . Reviewer: drainage statement is general; confirm wording
- 5. What maintenance does it need?
- [To confirm: cleaning method and products from Enmon]
- 6. What documents are available?
- Enmon product pages, installation methods and the pedestal catalogue are listed under Source documents below. Ask us for the current Enmon technical data sheet.
