Exterior cladding

Where can I buy exterior cladding in Langley or Surrey?

Urban Design's Langley showroom carries exterior cladding from ChamClad, LUX Architectural, Nortwood, Armour Side and Durock. It's a short drive from Surrey, Abbotsford and the rest of the Lower Mainland, and you can compare finishes side by side before you order.

What exterior cladding works best in Vancouver's wet climate?

Our coastal climate brings long rainy seasons, so look for cladding that resists moisture, rot and fading and needs little upkeep. Engineered panels like ChamClad and aluminum systems like LUX are popular choices for that reason. Our team can help you match a product to your exposure, budget and look.

What is ChamClad?

ChamClad is a Canadian-made cladding panel engineered for strength, weather resistance and long life. It has a clean, contemporary finish and low maintenance needs, and it suits both residential and commercial projects. Our Charred Black Shadowline profile is a popular modern option.

What are LUX Architectural Products?

LUX makes Canadian aluminum cladding that gives the look of wood or steel with the durability of aluminum. It comes in many colours, woodgrain finishes and profiles, including board and batten. Architects often choose it for bold façades that need little maintenance.

Is aluminum woodgrain siding a good alternative to real wood?

For many projects, yes. Aluminum woodgrain siding gives you the warmth of wood without staining, sealing or rot. It's a strong fit for wet climates like Metro Vancouver. Visit our showroom to see LUX and other woodgrain options in person.

What is Nortwood siding?

Nortwood is a premium siding line that suits both rustic and refined designs. It's chosen for façades that need strong visual impact and lasting performance.

Do you sell stucco systems?

Yes. We carry Durock, a Canadian stucco brand, for exterior walls. Our team can help you choose a finish and texture for your project. EIFS or acrylic finishes.

Stone and brick veneer

Where can I buy stone veneer in Langley?

Urban Design carries natural stone and manufactured stone veneer at our showroom on Production Way in Langley. Our collections include Rinox, Cultured Stone, Creative Mines, Moderne Stone, Terracraft and Pangaea, plus our own Urban Design Natural Stone line.

What's the difference between natural stone and manufactured stone veneer?

Natural stone veneer is real quarried stone cut into thin pieces, so every piece is unique. Manufactured stone is moulded to look like stone and is usually lighter, more consistent and often less expensive. Both work well on walls, fireplaces and façades. Our team can help you weigh look, budget and installation needs.

Can stone veneer be used inside and outside?

Yes. Stone veneer is used on exterior façades and foundations and on interior feature walls and fireplace surrounds. Ask us which profiles are rated for your application before you order.

What is Rinox stone?

Rinox is a Canadian manufacturer of masonry products, including stone and brick-look veneers. Popular Rinox profiles at our showroom include Kenya, Nora, Sirenis, Briquette, Lorena, in colours such as Almond White, Moorcrest, Charcoal and Vanilla White.

What is thin brick veneer?

Thin brick veneer is a slice of real or manufactured brick that gives the look of a full brick wall at a fraction of the weight. It's easy to install and works for feature walls, fireplaces and building façades. We carry styles from classic reclaimed brick, such as Old Chicago, to modern looks like Briquette White.

What natural stone is good for a fireplace?

Limestone, fieldstone and castle-style stone are all popular fireplace choices. Options at our showroom include Georgian Limestone, Savary Cream Limestone, Alpine Grey Fieldstone and Bahamas Castle Stone. Come in to see full-size samples before you decide.

Do you have discounted stone veneer?

Yes. Our stone clearance section offers up to 70% off selected stone veneer, including discontinued lines, overstock and display items. Stock is limited and available while supplies last.

Building envelope and decking

What building envelope products do you carry?

We carry Permabase and 3M building envelope products to help protect walls behind your cladding, stone or stucco. [confirm: list the specific products, such as Permabase cement board and 3M air and vapour barrier membranes or tapes.]

What backing do I need behind stone veneer?

The right backing depends on the wall, the veneer and local code. Cement board such as Permabase is a common choice for adhered veneer in many applications. Talk to our team and your installer before you start, and follow the manufacturer's installation guide.

What are 2 cm porcelain pavers?

Porcelain pavers are 2 cm thick outdoor tiles made for patios, decks, pool surrounds and walkways. They resist stains, fading and moisture, so they suit wet coastal weather. Visit our showroom to see sizes and finishes.

Do you sell composite decking?

Yes. We carry TruNorth composite decking, a low-maintenance alternative to wood that doesn't need staining or sealing.

Which is better for a deck in BC, porcelain or composite?

Both hold up well in the rain. Porcelain pavers give a stone or tile look and are very hard-wearing, and they're often set on pedestals over a roof deck or concrete. Composite decking feels like wood and installs over a framed deck. Our team can help you choose based on your structure and style.
