Built for BC’s wet coastal weather

ChamClad gives you the warm look of real wood without the staining, sealing or rot. It’s a Canadian product, made in Edmonton, Alberta, from 100% recycled rigid PVC with a high-definition woodgrain, metallic or solid finish. Urban Design buys direct from ChamClad, with no middleman between the factory and our Langley showroom.

This guide is for homeowners planning a renovation, and for builders and designers specifying exterior cladding in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. It covers why ChamClad holds up on the West Coast, the profiles and colours, where to use it and how it installs.

Built for BC’s wet coastal weather

Wood siding in the Lower Mainland fights months of rain every year. ChamClad is rigid PVC, so there’s no wood to rot, swell or refinish. Here’s what ChamClad’s own data sheets and warranty say:

  • Warranty: 50 years, with the first 15 years non-prorated
  • Fire: Class A rating (UL 723 / ASTM E84), tested to CAN/ULC S134 and NFPA 285 for exterior walls
  • Wind: passed 4,000 Pa (about 183 mph) under ASTM E330
  • Code: CCMC evaluation 14323-R in Canada
  • Colour: Shadowline’s black groove pigments are UV-stable and heat-reflective
  • Upkeep: no painting, staining or sealing, just a regular wash (see care below)

For builders, that means a wood look you can specify without a refinishing schedule.

Profiles, finishes and colours

ChamClad makes profiles for exterior walls, soffits, interiors and structure:

  • Shadowline Series (1/2"): 6" with 6" reveal, 6" with two 3" reveals, 12" with six 2" reveals, and 12" Seamless. A modern fine-line wood look, installed horizontally or vertically.
  • Classic Wall Panel (1/2"): 6", V-groove or U-channel, for exterior siding.
  • Board and Batten: a new profile for farmhouse and contemporary exteriors.
  • Soffit (3/8" and 1/2"): 4" and 6" Traditional, 12" Seamless and 6" Quick Click Shadowline, for soffits and porch or balcony ceilings.
  • Interior (3/8"): 4" and 6" Wall & Ceiling, 4" and 6" Flexible, and 12" Seamless. Class A fire rated, for feature walls and ceilings.
  • Column and beam wraps: Quick Click Column & Beam, a 7" two-piece column wrap and a 5.5" × 3.35" faux beam.

Shadowline panels come in 12', 16' and 20' lengths, with custom lengths available.

Stock woodgrains include Manhattan Natural Oak, Rocky Mountain Oak, Sandalwood, Sugar Maple, Barrel Oak, Sunbleached Oak, Barnboard Grey, Beachwood Grey and Atlantic White. Ultra Matte solids include Crystal White, Warm Autumn, Sand Dollar, Pebble Brook, Grey Asphalt and Black Sand. Metallic and anodized finishes are special order.

Colours on screen never match the real thing. Ask to see the physical samples before you choose.

Where ChamClad works

  1. Exterior siding. A full wood-look façade, or a warm accent next to stone, brick or stucco.
  2. Soffits and exterior ceilings. Match the soffit to the siding for one continuous look.
  3. Entries, garages and covered patios. Wrap an entry or garage wall, or line a balcony or patio ceiling.
  4. Interior feature walls and ceilings. Class A fire-rated interior panels for living rooms, kitchens and commercial spaces.
  5. Posts, columns and beams. Column wraps and faux beams carry the wood look onto structure.

ChamClad pairs well with the manufactured and natural stone in our showroom. A wood-look entry wall beside a stone veneer garage is a popular combination on new Fraser Valley homes.

Installation and care

ChamClad publishes installation manuals and videos for every line, and installers should follow them, including expansion spacing. Store panels out of direct sunlight until they go up; leaving uninstalled product in the sun voids the warranty.

Care is simple: no painting, staining or sealing (coating the factory finish voids the warranty). ChamClad’s warranty asks for a regular wash:

  • How often: every 8–12 months in coastal areas like ours, every 12–18 months elsewhere
  • How: a soft cloth or brush with neutral detergent or ChamClad cleaner, then rinse
  • Avoid: solvents, abrasive or caustic cleaners, and close-range pressure washing (never over 1,500 psi)

Register the warranty after installation. It transfers to the next owner if the transfer is filed within 60 days of the sale.
