 The addition of manufactured stone veneer to a home returns 97.1% of the cost in additional value, according to Remodeling Magazine's 2018 Cost vs Value Study. Eden Valders machine cut natural limestone veneer

If you want a wall that looks like stone because it is stone, Eden Valders is one of the natural stone lines we carry at Urban Design. It is real stone, quarried in Wisconsin, and cut into veneers you can use inside and out.

A family of Wisconsin quarries

Eden Stone was founded in 1950 by Emil Gesell in Eden, Wisconsin. Valders Stone & Marble, in Valders, Wisconsin, dates back to 1906 and joined Eden in 1992. Together they quarry stone across southeastern and central Wisconsin and supply building veneers, thin veneers, landscape stone, paving, caps and other cut stone.

Real stone, real variation

Most of the Eden Valders line is limestone. Because it comes out of the ground rather than a mould, colour and texture change from piece to piece, with greys, buffs, browns and whites. Some stones also weather over time, for example a grey that softens toward buff. That variation is what makes a natural stone wall look the way it does.

Eden Valders profiles at Urban Design

  • Webstone in Eden and Oakfield Fond du Lac: flat, irregular-shaped pieces for a natural, random look. Also available tumbled for softer edges.
  • Machine Cut in Eden and Oakfield Fond du Lac: sawn-height pieces for cleaner, more linear coursing.
  • Dimensional Splitface and Dimensional Rockfaced in Dove White: a bright, light-toned stone for contemporary exteriors.
  • Royal Chateau in Eden Rustic, Reserve in Fond du Lac, Antique in Oakfield Heritage and Manitowoc Grey stone veneer.

Installing thin stone veneer

Eden Valders thin veneers are typically 3/4" to 1-1/2" thick. The manufacturer's specification calls for setting the stone in a full bed of mortar over a properly prepared backing. For adhered natural thin-cut stone, we carry SPEC MIX Polymer Modified Adhered Veneer Mortar, made for high bond strength and sag resistance. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and your local building code.
